About

Welcome to Social Stoke, started to keep track of Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire’s flourishing digital spaces.

Stoke-on-Trent is a mythical, magical city in the Midlands of England, the main city of the area known as the Potteries in North Staffordshire.

Stoke-on-Trent is correctly spelt with hyphens. It has six towns – Tunstall, Burslem, Hanley, Stoke-upon-Trent, Fenton and Longton – and numerous urban villages. If you see the words ‘City Centre’ on signposts, incorrectly in upper case, the signs should take you to Hanley, while signs to the railway station will take you to Shelton.

If Stoke is a confusing place physically, digitally it works a lot better. We are a collaborative, friendly people forging new links through pretty tricky times. This site has been started to keep track, help people to connect to things they might find interesting and raise awareness of all the free tools people can use to create their own online presence.

It’s Stoke upon Trent without hyphens for the town. Just a small, but important, point. All these groups promoting the city.🙂
